RVA Free Pet Pantry Project

The RVA Free Pet Pantry is a project supported by SideKicks RVA and the community in the Richmond Virginia area, founded 2021.

This project is intended to connect pet owners with tangible resources that help keep their pet happy, well, and in their home - therefor reducing the incidence of shelter-surrender due to financial constraints.  We are not a 501c3 and operate as a community-supported (including support from SideKicks) social enterprise/organization.

All pantry boxes operate on a Take What You Need - Give What You Can model and donations can be made directly to the boxes or via the wishlist link.

You can also support SideKicks RVA to keep this work going by shopping for your pets essentials using the Sidekicks Picks page. This enables us to continue giving our time and resources to this meaningful work.

Those in need are welcome to access the pantries with no appointment on their own schedule.

Follow the pet pantry project

Oh no! You stopped by one of our pantries and it was low-stock or didn't have what you needed?  Ok, got it!

We do our best, but sometimes the need is quite high and our pantries get emptied.  For more options please visit our VA & National Pet Owner Resource list

You can additionally apply for a one-month pet food sponsorship match using this form.

How the sponsorships work: We work to match you with a community member who will support you directly by covering one month of food for your pet(s). When your application reaches the top of our stack and becomes active, we will reach out to you with a few questions and to confirm you are still in need, then we will make a call-out for support.  Once we find a supporter we will introduce the applicant and supporter, who will then coordinate delivery of the food.

This process can take some time.  Sponsorships are best for those who cannot reach the pantries or those who have a specific food need that can't be met by the pantry - it is always best to check the boxes first, as sponsorships can take some time.
